Ramon’s Tailor

The latest exhibit at Ramon’s Tailor takes a curious approach in commandeering the space by highlighting the existing objects that already dwell within.
Over the past seven years, a fascinating selection of artifacts has accumulated in the nooks, crannies, corners and walls of the gallery. These items reflect the many shows, artists, events and gifts that have passed through the space. Many of these articles are art works themselves, donated by previously exhibiting artists. Alice Combs has crafted a show from this memorabilia!

Drawing from her background in both biology and fine art, Taxonomy Anostalgia analyzes this collection of items as if they were biological specimens – categorizing, grouping and rearranging them based solely on surface observations and a partially interpreted oral history. As her process culminates in a creative expression, the result also becomes a study of memory and the challenge in relating to the nostalgic keepsakes of someone else.
